The secret of getting ahead?

Have you ever heard the phrase "Assumption is the mother of all fuck ups?"

Today this phrase is applicable to a multitude of different areas, especially in social marketing, decision making in businesses and in trying to predict the future.

The secret of getting ahead is getting started - Mark Twain

Our new marketing world of algorithms and soft AI's, that are trying to make sense of human behavior, is turning out to become its own undoing.

Back in the early 2000's, when we still did banner-ads and TV-commercials, we experienced a slow decline in response to the marketing efforts.

The consumers response to marketing practices will always be a subject of change, and when we are used to the established norm of marketing, we will in turn develop a selective blindness when we know we are being "sold to".

We could say that this is happening to social media advertising and the algorithms that lie behind it. We are becoming more aware of the big-data solutions available for marketers, and the realization that our digital identities are up for sale.

"Please be what you promised me you would be."

Today we have to earn the right to market to our audience, and we have to interact with them accordingly. Our customers know that we know, that they know and so on. So the best course of action is actually to say it like it is.

How refreshing to actually have a marketing campaign that gives you exactly what you could expect of the end product? Unassuming and truthful projections of your business will serve to create happy customers, as their expectations are being continually met.

How do you market your business or service to the world?

Well, first of all you have to get started. Businesses that are not online and interacting with their buyers, are not going to survive the next 10 years.

If you don't know how to get started, find some help and make it happen.

Don't get left behind.
